Slowing down is my focus for February and it is the perfect theme for this month as it is something that I feel so much benefit from but also something that I struggle to do. I thought I would start the month off with some slow practices that I want to try and incorporate on a regular basis.
Slow Living Practices
Regular baking - rather than buying sweet treats, I want to bake them with ‘real’ ingredients. I also want to include my son in the baking. I have a plan to bake Valentine’s biscuits together which I think will be cute.
Slow mornings and evenings - look at my routines for the start and end of the day and try to slow down a little. Less focus on productivity and more on living in the moment.
Meditation - take time each day for quiet time, reflection and guided meditation.
Cooking seasonally - I want to use seasonal produce in my cooking. I have started an organic veg box subscription to help with this and look forward to trying new recipes.
Growing vegetables - I want to start growing my own veg. It’s hard currently with our extension taking up the garden but I will start growing indoors and move outside once it is the right time of year and my garden is clear.
Ultimately, this month, I want my word to be slow to remind me not to rush through my days. I am often guilty of moving through things too quickly - always thinking ahead and not living in the moment. Anchoring my time this month to the slow living concept, I hope, will remind me what is important.
I think we're all often guilty of rushing through things although over this last 13 months, I really have leaned into slowing down and lettings what will be, be.
